Just what I needed at the pool, August 21, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Intex Fabric Extra Wide Camping Mattress (Sports) This air mattress is perfect for floating in the pool while tanning. It is big enough for me to lie on in any position, yet no too big. Because it can be blown up without any special equipment, I also think that it would be ideal for camping. The cloth top surface is very skid resistance. Most air matresses that I used while camping in previous years were too small and so slippery that sunrise always found me sleeping on the ground next to the air mattress. A satisfactory and comfortable mattress, February 11, 2011 This review is from: Intex Fabric Extra Wide Camping Mattress (Sports) I bought this to serve as a sleeping surface for occasional camping trips, company sleepovers or kid catastrophes (like the night my daughter was throwing up all night and wanted to sleep in the room with my wife and me but couldn't fit in the bed with us because she's 14). It serves those functions well, holds air great and is very, very comfortable.
Now, I usually place something down on it before sleeping on it as I do any latex mattress, even those that are flocked. Skin on latex results in sweating and sticking and itching and isn't worth it, so a light blanket serves great as a mattress pad. It also works great outdoors. Air is a good insulator in cool/cold weather and getting a few inches off the ground is great.
What drew me to this mattress is that I wanted something smaller than a twin, larger than a raft. This is as wide as a twin, though a little thinner when inflated than a typical twin air mattress. I wish it were a little narrower still and a... Read more
Second one was a keeper, February 17, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Intex Fabric Extra Wide Camping Mattress (Sports) Received first mattress from Amazon quickly and after inflation, nearly as quickly (within 20 minutes) it was deflated enough for my shoulders to touch the floor.
Contacted Amazon, very easy to have replacement shipped, replacement arrived a few days later. Tested this one at home, it held air. Took it camping, did not have to add air during the three nights of use, including the occasional kneeling on the mattress. The guys sleeping on Thermarests were envious.
Pro: looks good, blue over beige; blue top is high friction nylon, my mattress cover did not slip off. Full size for a single mattress (LxWxD), slightly thicker in the "pillow" area, comfortable for me at 6'2" & 230lbs. A large adult can inflate the mattress to full firmness by mouth with 5 minutes of concerted effort (but you may get a bit light-headed!).
